We check and refill car air conditioning systems. Before refilling, the system is checked for leaks: filling a leaking system means venting refrigerant into the air and coming back to the same spot a month later.
Air conditioning fades gradually, so most people notice only when the vents blow almost warm air. A system naturally loses part of its refrigerant over a year — that is normal, and that is exactly what a refill is for.
If the refrigerant runs low much faster than that, the cause is a leak, not how often you refill. So we check the system first and refill afterwards. The amount is filled to your manufacturer's specification, not simply 'to the top'.
The season starts in spring and runs all summer. In June and July it is worth calling ahead — those are the weeks when everyone remembers their air conditioning at once.
